Totonicapan is known for some of the finest weaving in Guatemala. These two panels were woven on a backstrap loom and sewn together. Ikat dying, called jaspe in Guatemala, is an advanced skill. The yarn is wrapped and dyed in a pattern before the weaving begins and then must be matched up to form the design during the weaving.
