The village of Tlaloloapan, Guerrero, is known for its devil masks going back several hundred years. Over time, the masks have evolved. In this one, the anonymous carver combines the devil with four jaguar heads. The jaguars represent strength and courage and are a common theme throughout Guerrero folk art. This mask is early 21st Century.
